Educational background Ken holds a Master’s degree in Money, Banking & Finance from the University of Birmingham in England Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (Banking & Finance Option) from the University of Ghana and an LLB Law from the Mountcrest University College. He is also a proud Santaclausian hailing from Adisadel College, Cape Coast and had his elementary Education at the Rev. John Teye Memorial Institute, Accra. Other accomplishments Ken has refurbished a library for Rev. John Teye Memorial Institute, his alma matar. He's organised a free talk on "Evolving the African Narrative: Focus on Deriving Economic Benefit from African Emerging Dominance in Pop Culture" With The Tribal Africa X Open Space Team at the Kempinski Hotel, Accra, Spearheading the Despite Media annual Free Health Care Programme and Championing and executing projects donated by Dr. Osei Kwame (DESPITE) which includes 37 Military Hospital’s “Despite Children’s Block” which contains the Oncology department, Children’s physiotherapy department and wards; the Wiamose Police Station Complex, the Tesano Police Station and many others. In addition to Ken’s impressive portfolio of leadership qualities, professional accomplishments and charitable works within the Despite Group and other self-owned businesses and associates, he is one of the most disciplined and focused young entrepreneurs of our time. Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, was born as Osei Kwame at Agona Wiamoase in the Ashanti Region. He grew up in a middle-class home in the village and always yearned for a better life.

Despite was born on the 2nd February 1962. He celebrated his 60th birthday few days ago and brought the nation to a standstill.

Osei Kwame Despite’s education background from elementary is not known but he has an honorary degree from a British university.

Despite began hustling at a young age and started trading in anything he could to survive. He sold music cassettes, feeding bottles, padlocks and other goods at Dunkwa-Offinso in the Central Region of Ghana.

Live in the village was not lucrative so Despite migrated to Lagos, Nigeria after many years of struggle to search for greener pastures.

His journey was however cut short in 1983 when he had to flee from Nigeria because of political unrest in the country. He returned to Ghana with a dream and a Chain-saw machine.

He later started selling cassettes until he diversified his business and ventured into broadcasting by establishing an Akan speaking radio station, Peace FM in 1999 at Mile 7 Junction. The radio station became a national favorite because it used the Akan language in broadcasting as opposed to the Queen’s language.

This was the beginning of his media empire and financial breakthrough.

Osei-Kwame is the owner of the Despite Company Ltd which is a trading company and with subsidiaries in the media industry namely, PEACE FM which is the largest and the most popular FM station in the country, OKAY FM station, NEAT FM both in Accra and HELLO FM station in Kumasi.

Dr. Osei-Kwame set-up NEAT FOODS LTD, which processes our local plantain, cocoyam, maize and palm fruits such as Neat Fufu, which is has become a preference to the traditional fufu. He also owns a manufacturing company ANTONA FOODS LTD, producing the ever popular THIS WAY chocolate drink and other flavors including the Motherlac cereal for children. Despite is a co-founder of a Salt mining company, U2 Salt, which is located at Winneba.

Dr. Osei-Kwame with his partner co-founded the United Television (UTV) which is leading TV station in the country.

He is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd, a very renowned financial institution in the country.
