Social media and academic grades are two of the most important things in an average student's life. Several factors play an important role in determining whether he achieves first class, second class, third class, or distinction. This study aims to find out the extent to which Social Media impacts the student's academic results. Using Pearson's Correlation test, the study determined that there was a negative impact of social media usage on academic performance. Furthermore, Pearson's Correlation test also showed us that the distraction caused by social media impact their academic performance. There is a high need to include various beneficial aspects of social media in a classroom's teachings. Instead of outright condemning social media usage by students, education systems and academics should try and make it a part of the educational curriculum. The longer the academicians try and stick to the age-old teaching method from a constraint boundary of class and books, the more we unequip students from the necessary skillsets required to bring a change and lead.

This study explores the pervasive impact of social media on the academic pursuits of college students. Employing a descriptive survey approach, the research investigates various aspects of social media usage among students, encompassing communication and educational activities. Through the analysis of survey responses, the study examines how students allocate their time on social media platforms and its potential effects on their academic performance. The results reveal a nuanced relationship between social media engagement and academic outcomes, uncovering both positive and negative impacts. While social media offers convenience and connectivity, concerns arise regarding its addictive nature and potential distractions from academic endeavors. The paper concludes with a comprehensive set of recommendations for both institutions and students to manage the complex interplay between social media and academic success. These recommendations include implementing structured time management techniques, nurturing digital literacy skills, providing support for balancing online and offline activities, advocating for educational content utilization on social media platforms, and promoting responsible online conduct. Furthermore, the paper calls for collaboration among educational institutions, policymakers, and technology firms to formulate guidelines and policies that encourage healthy social media use while prioritizing academic goals.

The main objective of this study was to analyse the influence of social media participation on academic performance. The sample consisted of 1960 students taking one of two courses at undergraduate or postgraduate level, respectively (Faculty of Education, National Distance Education University, Spain), of whom 411 students carried out an activity based on social media participation. We used a mixed quantitative (descriptive analysis and ANOVA) and qualitative (content analysis) design. Our results showed that the students who participated in a social media-based activity presented better academic performance than those who did not carry out any activity or who took part in a more traditional learning activity. We conclude that regardless of educational level, social media participation exerts a positive influence on performance. Consequently, it is important to consider the variable of social networking site use because this can partially explain academic performance. We also found...
