Generation Zero: How To Get Experimental Weapons
Experimental Weapons include some of the most powerful guns that you can get in Generation Zero. But the catch is these weapons are hard to come by. Not only do they have no fixed locations. Their drop chances are also low. But knowing which enemies to defeat can help you get your hands on them faster. So in this guide check out how to get Experimental weapons in Generation Zero.
How to Get Experimental Weapons in Generation Zero
You can get Experimental Weapons by beating Rivals, Reapers, and completing Base Defense missions. These 3 are the only ways you can get these weapons in the game. But there is one more condition you need to meet for it. Your character needs to be at least level 25 for you to be able to get them as a drop from these enemies. The higher the level the better. Remember these enemies have a chance to drop them. So just defeating them isn’t enough, you may have to grind a bit to get them.
- Start by spawning in any region of your choice .
- Now, run around looking for Rivals and eliminate any that you find. These are like mini-bosses and are harder to kill than regular enemies.
- In case there are no Rivals in the region that you are in then you should start eliminating any enemies you come across. This should improve your chances of spawning them.
- As you kill them their level also increases and the harder your Rivals the better chance they have at dropping Experimental Weapons.
Aside from Killing Rivals, you should also look for Reapers . These are the strongest enemies that the game has to offer, so they have the best chance of dropping experimental weapons.
Do remember Rivals won’t always drop weapons sometimes they can even drop items as well. Lastly, you can also do Home Base Defense missions repeatedly to get these weapons. Some of these Experimental Weapons include:
- The Experimental .44 Magnus (Shrapnel Gun)
- The Experimental KVM 89 (Thermal Machine Gun)
- The Experimental Älgstudsare (Artillery Rifle)

- The high fire rate, combined with its high damage output and when it's synergized with shock bullets, turn the PM-71 into a deadly machine gun.
- The PM-71's high recoil when firing means the use of a machine gun compensator to lower recoil, attaching a suppressor is not recommended, as it is not designed for stealth combat.
- The numbers “71” in the PM-71's name, was the year that the PKM was put in mass production.
- The PKM is currently used by 67 Asian countries like Iraq and China (although they use the type 80 an exact Chinese copy of the PKM).
- The PM-71 incorrectly uses the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges rather than 7.62x54mmR rounds. The same issues are also present with the Kotenok Sniper Rifle .
- When a 2x red dot sight is attached, the attachment seemingly appears to be onto the top cover, rather than on an attachment rail.
The underside ofPM-71's top cover.
- The reason which being is because light machine guns are a type of small arm that automatic weapon which usually has a bipod support for the barrel. A general-purpose machine guns meanwhile are used with a bipod in a light role and, for more accuracy, with a tripod in a medium role.
- Another reason for its classification as a general-purpose machine gun, for its use of service cartridges (7.62x54mmR cartridges) and not the standard rifle rounds.

I also have a KVM 89,, but that's NOT a experimental. I have gotten the experimental KVM 59 often. Nothing special done. You just need to be high level and kill a high level tank or harvester. But even then it appears random (I don't have the Alpine unrest DLC) Personally I'm looking for the triple scope attachment Very rare to find.

Maybe "work horse" or "main weapon" wasn't the best way to put it. I use a range of guns depending on the situation (RPG, experimental PVG, and an assault rifle with unstoppable shells). I use the LMG in two types of scenarios: When the shit really hits the fan (surrounded by 5 fnix hunters and two harvesters).
