How it Works
- Decide if you want students to work independently, with a partner, or in groups. Or have students work alone and then share answers in a class discussion.
- Students read each situation, deciding whether the child in the scenario made a good or poor choice. This process encourages critical thinking and reflection on social behaviors.
- For good choices, students explain why the decision was positive. For poor choices, students propose alternative ways to handle the situation, sparking meaningful discussions around social skills and empathy.
Sample Halloween Scenarios
- Jack's Raisin Reaction: While trick-or-treating, Jack is given raisins. He says, “Raisins?! Gross! I don’t want those,” and hands them back to the people who gave them to him.
- Chelsea's Costume Contest Outburst: When Chelsea learns that someone else won the costume contest, she loudly tells everyone that her costume was much better and should have won.
- Emily's Rule-Abiding Costume Choice: Emily is excited about the school costume parade and decides to choose a costume that follows the school rules.
